Happy Birthday To Me!!!

What a boring birthday this year. Most of my friends are aways at the moment. Well, it is what to expect when my birthday is nearly on the new year holiday.

However, I have some photos for you to enjoy this comeing Christmas. In my town during this time of the year, every one seem to be very happy and really enjoy themself. The event that everyone seem to looking forward to is  "the christmas parade" and this year theme of the parade is "Fairy's Tales". (Feel free to click on the photos to see all the Fairy's Tales Photo Gallery)

I went to the parade about 1 and a half hour earlier just to have a chance to get to know people in the parade. there are all excited and very happy.

Teachers, parents, kids and everyone else .....

I do not know why but this photo above is the photo I like most. I am not familiar with taking photos of people so this might not be a perfect potrait shot but I do really like it.

I found that taking photo like this is so much fun. I made a lot of friend that day, met people, chatting, took photos of them. This is more enjoyable than driving a car looking for a good spot and capture the photos this is more like capture the moment.

A lot of people are waiting on the street, there are all excited.

Well, not just people in the parade are in the costume.

What's a great day !!!

Bloomin' Tulip

Table Cape, Wynyard Tasmania

This trip was like a crazy trip. I got up at 5 in the morning 'cause I wanted to have a lazy trip up north to Wynyard. Well, I thought that I could stop by every now and then so that I could enjoy a journey and get some good photos. Wynyard is only 2 hours away form where I live. About nearly an hour after I took off, the sky was still dark but it was not because that the Sun has not raised yet. It was olny because the cloud was so thick so that one would not be able to get a glimpse of any sun shy. I was so confused and finally decided to turn back home.

Later that afternoon, the sky seem clear so I got to my car again and heading north. This time I did not wish to get to Wynyard at all since it was very late afternoon and I would not get to have a decent light condition for photo taking by the time I got there. I decided to spend a night in a small town relax and enjoy my holiday and I am gald I did that, it was a peaceful night.

I got up about 10 o'clock in the morning and this time the  destination was Table Cape, Wynyard.

On the way to Table Cape, there are a lot of tulip farm alongside the road and it was so beautiful. The weather today was quite annoying. It was raining every 20-30 minutes and then a very clear sky. I had to stop at some spots for like half an hour to wait for the cloud to be gone and the Sun shined thru the bright blue sky.

Some of these photos are taken right after the rain was gone and not so long before the sky turn bad again. Well, I am not a big fan of flower. In fact, I said no twice last week to my friends when they asked if I wanted  to come here with them. But I am glad that I finally came here. This was not a bad experience at all.

What can I say. This was a wonderful trip on a colorful ocean road.!!!

Wondering around Lonnie

Miss me?

I am just too busy getting used to my new camera, Olumpus E300. Here are some photos shot right after the battery was charged. Feel free to click on the text below the picture to see the full content in the Photo Gallery.

Like I told you in my previous entry, I recently bought a new camera which means that I have to start it all over again. Of course the principles of taking photos are still the same but the only different is that how the camera is operated. It was not something that is very difficult to be familiar with but not that you would not want to worry especially when you switch to another brand. Even though I found it very easy to operate this Olympus E300, When one of my friend want me to take a photo of her with the G3 Canon digital compact camera I found myself playing around with it instictively. Well, I can not complain about that. After years with Canon, I seem to be a real canon user.

If you click on the text below this creepy church photo, you will see that this camera does the job with low light condition as well. Why would I worried about this? I was under the impression that this E300 have problem with low light and long exposure but it seem fine for me tho.

Many people asked me why I use Olympus and not the Canon any more. My answer would simply be that I could never find a better price on this model anywhere alse. Cameras in Australia are always more expensive than it should be by 30-60%.

Canon EOS 20D is A$2,300 in the local shop while it is A$1,700 if you order it from overseas and it is more than twice the price if you were to buy any of the Canon Lenses in Australia. I want to see it before I purchase it if I want to buy anything like this. But since the Olympus offer the price that as cheap to buy at your local store as you can find on the internet, I did not hesitate to grab one, nearly a month ago.

I posted all 4 galleries at once just because all these photos are the practical warm up activity only but next time I expect something more exciting!!! until then.

Well, I came back from Melbourne for quite sometime now but have not yet updated my blog. Actually, I decided to buy a new camera for nearly a year due to the limitation of my old one. I then finally bought a new camera. That is why I have been missing.

Anyway, I am not throwing my old Canon S45 away, here is a photo taken by the best digital compact camera I have ever had.

Great Lake

After a trip to Mt Ben Lomond, my friend and I decided to go somewhere nice and warm with a reflection of light upon the water. It was not a realistic dream to go somewhere that warm in Tasmania at the moment. Well at least there are a lot of water here in Tasmania since this is an island state. Instead of ocean view and beaches we decided to go to a lake called Great Lake, an apparently largest Lake on the Tasmanian map.

The lake is located on top of the high land and indeed very huge. I did not really expect the lake to be on top of the mountain like this nor did any of my friends. Each and everyone in the whole group only wore a not-so-thick jumper and not so long up the mountain, we realised that this was not going to be a nice and warm trip.

We did not got out of the car for longer than 15 minutes each place we stopped by or we were gonna get cold. And this taught us that next time we are going somewhere, make sure that we wear a proper outfit.

Ben Lomomd

It has been a not so cold winter so far and I had my doubt that there will be enough snow for skiing this year. However after nearly a week of pouring rain, my friends and I decided to drive up Mt Ben Lomond, the only ski resort in Tasmania. Upon reaching the top of the mountain, we only spotted couple of cars going the same direction. There was no doubt that there were going to be just a few people up there since the ski season had yet to begun.

I had always used to the resort, packed of tourists, where I can hardly be able to get a beer, let alone to find a seat. But this was the first time that I could find the best spot next to the fire place and drank a glass of very fine local premium beer.

After warm up myself a bit with a couple of beers, we took off and getting ready to go and take some photos. Yes, you heard me right, photos. This time, I did not really come here for skiing at all. Even though this is not my first time seeing snow, it had never stopped excite me.

The World is so GREEN!!!

I have finished reading the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince a long time ago but did not have chance to update my blog. I have been so busy these couple weeks, kind of working 7 days a week. So when I had a slightest free time, I jumped in behind the wheel and drove away as far as I could for a single day road trip to the "RUSSELL FALLS"

Russell Falls is located in the Mount Field National Park, about an hour from Hobart. Well, I am not living in Hobart so it took me another two and a half hours to get there.

Green Green Green

Only about 15 minutes walking from car park, I reached the ground level of the falls. After took couple of photoes, I walked to the upper level. On the higher level the water falls did not seem to be very big yet beautiful. If the temperature was not reaching the 0 degree I would probably jump in and swim. But I could not dare think of taking off my jumper.

I really like it when everything seemed to be greenish. It was very relaxing and calm. It was a very peaceful moment there where I can sit and listen to the sound of the water flow through the tide and splashing through the rock. This is how I like Tasmania, quiet and beautiful.

And of course, there was nothing better to do except to taking some photos here, well, lots of them.
